Pigmy Virescent
Short, slender plant with pale green short whitish emerging leaves and brownish color on leaf sheath.
Pigmy Virescent
Eighth leaf of the original PgyV*-SN2602/+ heterozygous chimeric mutant plant showing 1/2 leaf blade sector of greenish white tissue with frequent greenish streaks. Phenotype of chimeral mutant tissue appears different than that of a whole mutant plant, a generation later.
Pigmy Virescent
A short PgyV*-SN2602/+ Heterozygous mutant plant from a cross on M017/A632 showing erect leaves, brownish leaf sheath and greenish white tissue at the base of the emerging leaf whorl. Cool temperature episode caused virescent phenotype to appear part way up on the developing plant.
Pigmy Virescent
A nearly mature PgmyV*-N2525/+ heterozygous mutant semidwarf plant (left) with short leaves showing yellow green emerging leaves and normal green lower leaves. Also (right) a dwarf-like homozygote which had been very light green seedling but has greened up to normal. Rapidly emerging tissue is most extreme.
Pigmy Virescent
Progeny of PgyV*-N2628/+ heterozygous mutant plant selfed showing (left) smaller more extreme mutant homozygote and (right) heterozygote brownish sheath and pale green leaf whorl.
Pigmy Virescent
Progeny from the cross of a D*-N2648/+, mutant plant x a PgyV*-N2628/+, mutant plant showing left to right: a Pigmy Virescent PgyV/+ mutant plant, a Pigmy Virescent Dwarf , double mutant plant, and a Dwarf, D/+ mutant plant. Note the double mutant plant is more extreme dwarf but non-virescent.
